Zoetendals Vallei Jubilee Hill

Jubilee Hill is a self-catering cottage situated on the historical farm, Zoetendals Vallei, which has been in the van Breda family since 1817. The cottage is situated 6.5 km from the coastal town of Struisbaai with its beautiful white beaches that stretch all the way along the coast to Arniston.

The cottage is north facing and overlooks the farm lands and Restio fynbos with Milkwood trees in the background. In the distance one can see the lake from which the farm derived its name. Zoetendals-vlei is the largest natural freshwater lake in South Africa with access to the sea. The farm is a birder’s paradise with the natural veld, crop lands and the lake all within close proximity of each other. The lake is also a superb venue for windsurfing, kite-boarding and sailing enthusiasts. Those visitors that would prefer a more relaxed outing are most welcome to take an unhurried paddle in a canoe.

The cottage is fully equipped and all bedding and bath towels are provided. It has three bedrooms, two of which have double beds and the third containing two singles and a three quarter bed. The main bedroom is en-suite and the two remaining rooms share the second bathroom. The cottage also has a TV with a DVD player and satellite dish. The kitchen opens onto an enclosed courtyard which is a suitable for the family pet. Guests are however advised that this is a working farm with livestock and visitors must take full responsibility for their dogs. Right next to the cottage is a beautiful thatch lapa with a wooden deck which is ideal for leisurely lunches or sundowners with friends and family.

In addition to the many activities available on the farm, guests can undertake any number of day trips to nearby places of interest. Elim is approximately 30 km from the cottage. The main street of this historical Moravian mission village has been described as one of the finest historical street-scapes in the Cape.

Alternatively, the coastal resort of Arniston is only 35 km away and offers beautiful beaches and great walks and the opportunity to explore the beautiful Waenhuiskrans cave. The Arniston Hotel is the ideal place to have lunch or dinner whilst overlooking the sea.
